Terms of Use

Last updated: 30 September 2025

These are the terms and conditions for using this website and our apps.

The thinkladder.com website (website) and the Thinkladder apps (including, but not limited to, the Thinkladder mobile apps and Thinkladder integrations available via third-party platforms such as Slack and Microsoft Teams referred to hereafter as ‘app’ or ‘apps’) are provided by Think Ladder Limited (‘Thinkladder’, ‘us’, ‘our’ or ‘we’).

All of the information provided on the website and apps (services) are to be used for informational and/or educational purposes. The services should not be used as a substitute for seeking out professional support.

SAFETY DISCLAIMER

Thinkladder is not designed to diagnose, treat, or replace clinical care. It complements existing mental wellness practices and should be used alongside, not instead of, professional support. If you are at risk of harm to yourself or others, seek help from emergency services or a medical professional immediately.

COPYRIGHT

Thinkladder offers both free and paid subscription versions of its services. Regardless of version, all content made available through the Services is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, communicate or copy any of the content made available via the services without the permission of the copyright owner. However, feel free to share Insights via the share icon in the app gallery.

SLACK

If you use the Thinkladder Slack apps (Slack apps), we will access information from Slack in order to provide the functionality of the Slack app, address you appropriately and respond to you via Slack.

This information may include, but is not limited to;

  • the Slack user name/ID of users who interact with the Slack app;
  • the Slack team name/ID where the Slack app is installed;
  • the Slack team channel names/IDs of channels (where the Slack app is permitted to post messages to; or is invited to; or where the Slack app slash command is run from); and
  • the content of direct messages, @mentions, and slack commands sent to the Slack app.

Your interactions with the Slack app are processed in order to provide the functionality of the Slack app.

If you choose to link your profile in the Thinkladder mobile app (mobile app) to the Slack app we may access data saved from the mobile app for use by the Slack app (and vice versa).

Installation of the Slack apps automatically creates a cohort for the purposes of allowing the workspace owners/administrators to commission Thinkladder to provide paid value added services in the future. Examples of these value added services may include specific content to be provided to the Slack workspace via the Slack app, or research reports and recommendations to help Slack workspace users improve self-awareness/wellbeing in specific areas.

COHORT PARTICIPATION AND RESEARCH OPT-OUT

If you participate in a cohort (e.g. workplace or study program), anonymised usage data may be analysed as part of group-level research. You may:

  • View which cohorts you belong to in the app
  • Leave any/all cohorts at any time
  • Continue to use the app as a regular user after leaving a cohort

When a cohort is sponsored by an organisation, selected representatives of that organisation may receive reports intended to help the organisation better support wellbeing across their community. These reports:

  • Are strictly anonymised and aggregated insights about the overall themes being explored by users in that cohort.
  • Focus on general wellbeing trends and specific limiting beliefs and reframes explored.
  • Never include journal entries, audio, or user-supplied search inputs.

Access to these reports is controlled and limited to select individuals at Thinkladder and within the sponsoring organisation.

If you withdraw from a cohort, your past anonymised data may still be included in completed analyses. To fully withdraw from future research use, delete your Thinkladder account in-app or contact support@thinkladder.com.

AI GENERATED CONTENT AND ANALYTICS

We use AI to improve the user experience as well as to generate anonymised and aggregated analytics reporting based on usage data in order to improve service quality and understand mental wellness trends.

  • User-supplied search inputs are used in combination with our proprietary, therapist-validated data and public research to generate tailored responses
  • Free-text journal entries, audio content, profile data, and user-supplied search inputs are not used for analytics or model training.
  • Only the Thinkladder-provided multiple-choice selections are used for generating analytics and for improving our systems, models and services.

We may change these terms and conditions and the Privacy Policy by uploading revised terms and conditions onto this website. The change will apply from the date that we upload the revised terms and conditions.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 September 2025

This is the privacy policy governing this website and our apps.

PERSONAL DATA

If you are using our services, we may collect basic information that most web sites and apps collect as part of providing access to similar services. That basic information includes browser type, date and time you visited and IP addresses.

In order to set up an account, we also need to gather personal identifying information. This information includes your email address and your chosen username and a password. Access to personal identifying information is restricted. No personal identifying information from the services is shared with the Thinkladder research team. This data is stored separately from our analytics systems. It is never used for training AI models.

PRIVATE DATA

Data created in Journal, Gratitude, and Audio Practice features:

  • Is stored only on your device
  • Is never uploaded to our servers
  • Is never accessed by the Thinkladder team or used in analysis
  • Is never used for training AI models

USAGE DATA

Usage data includes content we display in order to provide the service and each user’s interaction with that content while using the service (this may include but is not limited to things like the screen title, the number of taps/clicks/selections of content that is displayed and interactions such as screen taps, button clicks, scrolling and pausing etc.)

Usage data is anonymised prior to being used for analysing usage and performance of the services. The anonymised usage data may also be aggregated and grouped into cohorts for internal, private and/or public research purposes, provided that each cohort is deemed to be large enough to preserve anonymity of individual users. Cohorts may include cohorts based on the user’s Continent, Country and City approximated using their IP address; and in the case of private research, cohorts may include an organisation name.

ORGANISATIONAL COHORTS AND SPONSORED ACCESS

When an organisation sponsors access to Thinkladder for a defined group of users (a cohort), select individuals within that organisation may receive access to strictly anonymised and aggregated analytics reports. These reports are designed to help the organisation better support the wellbeing of their people.

  • Reports summarise general trends and themes in user engagement.
  • The focus is on the types of limiting beliefs and reframes being explored.
  • Reports never include journal entries, audio recordings, or user-supplied search inputs.
  • All data is very strictly anonymised, and access to reports is restricted to select individuals at Thinkladder and within the sponsoring organisation.

Users may also choose to share their own journeys with a counsellor, therapist, or trusted individual, but this is entirely at their discretion.

COHORT DATA & OPT-OUT

Users may belong to research or content-specific cohorts. In the app, users can:

  • View and leave cohorts
  • Fully withdraw by deleting their account
  • Continue using Thinkladder without being part of a cohort

Leaving a cohort or deleting your account prevents future usage from being included in cohort research. Past anonymised data cannot be removed from completed research.

AI AND MODEL TRAINING

Thinkladder does not use any user Personal Data or Private Data (including free-text inputs, journals, or audio) for AI training or fine-tuning. All AI features are powered by models trained on Thinkladder’s proprietary therapist-validated data, prompts as well as public research datasets.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

In order to provide the functionality of this website, the mobile app and the Slack app, we use third party service providers including;

  • Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Cloudflare and Heroku for hosting our software and content;
  • Google Analytics and Google Firebase Analytics for analysing the usage and performance of the services;
  • Microsoft Azure and OpenAI for AI services;

We retain Personal Data for only for as long as is required for providing the services and the purposes outlined in these Terms and Conditions, for providing the services and for fulfilling our legal obligations.

DATA ARCHIVAL/REMOVAL POLICY

We provide self-service tools for users to remove Personal Data and Usage Data from our mobile apps and Slack apps. Users may also request assistance with removing their Personal Data and Usage Data by emailing privacy@thinkladder.com.

Usage Data that is removed will not be available for future analysis or research, however, it is technically infeasible and practically impossible to remove Usage Data that has already been anonymised/aggregated as part of existing analysis or research.

DATA STORAGE POLICY

We strive to protect data in line with current commercial practices including the use of encryption schemes where appropriate. However, no method of data transfer and storage is infallible and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

TRANSFER OF DATA

Thinkladder services are available globally, and Personal Data is stored using trusted third-party service providers located in the United States. This means your Personal Data may be transferred, held, and processed both inside and outside the United States (for example, in Australia, New Zealand, or the European Economic Area) so that we can provide Thinkladder services to you wherever you are. Analysis of anonymised Usage Data is also carried out by third-party service providers located in the United States and New Zealand, which are separate from the systems that store your Personal Data.
