Loneliness
Loneliness is one of the hardest feelings we can experience. It would be easy to think that the cure was simple: being around more people. But loneliness is more complex than that. It’s often more about the way we perceive ourselves and our place in the world than our actual physical reality. There are many people who feel perfectly content and fulfilled being on their own. There are others who feel achingly lonely, even though they’re surrounded by people.
Many times, our limiting beliefs keep feeding our feelings of loneliness. These may be something like, ‘No-one will ever want to be my friend’, or ‘I’ll never find a place where I feel like I belong’. When we believe these thoughts, the resulting emotions start to feel like our unchangeable reality.
The wonderful (and somewhat ironic) news is that we can start our journey away from feeling lonely on our own. We can start to identify and challenge the limiting beliefs that are sustaining our negative emotions. We can introduce our own inner world to greater f

This loneliness is only a creation of my thoughts and self-belief. As I begin to gently challenge these thoughts, and shine a different light on these beliefs, the spectre of loneliness begins to fade.

Be intentional: Take some time to explore what you want from your connections with others. Are there any specific personality traits or values that help you thrive? Are you hoping to connect over a topic or an activity that brings you together? Being intentional about your time and energy can help boost your confidence and personal autonomy.
Tap into community: Reach out to friends and family members. Join social groups that interest you or participate in community activities. Volunteering can provide a sense of purpose and fulfilment, and connect you with others who share your values and interests.
Get involved in hobbies or activities: Engage in activities or hobbies that bring you joy. You may even meet like-minded people while you affirm your own worth.
Consider adopting/fostering a pet: A pet can provide companionship and a greater sense of purpose. However, make sure you are prepared to take on the responsibility of caring for an animal.
Don’t forget the basics
Practice self-care and compassion: Take care of yourself by eating well, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly. Engaging in activities that you know make you feel good can also help boost your mood. Remember that everyone feels lonely at some point in their lives. Be patient with yourself as you work to build genuine connections in your life.
